Temperatures cooled into the 20s and 30s with scattered frost last night as a chilly high-pressure system from Canada moved over. Today, that high-pressure system is moving out to sea allowing for an increase in clouds but staying nice.

We're under a mixture of sun and clouds and temperatures this afternoon will be near 70 degrees. It will be cooler at the shore with a light onshore breeze.

Even with the clouds, the sunburn factor is about a 9 out of 10.

Clouds thicken overnight with rain arriving in northern Vermont before daybreak.

A slow-moving front will bring showers to much of New England during the day tomorrow. First in western and northern New England, then late in the day to southern and eastern New England. From Boston to Cape Cod and in eastern Maine, most of the day is dry. High temperatures generally in the 50s with wind from the south at 10 to 20 miles per hour.

The weather front responsible for the wet Monday and Monday night will stall along the East Coast for much of this week.

Though much of New England should have a dry Tuesday with some sunshine, more rain will come up along the front Tuesday night and Wednesday. Temperatures on Tuesday should get to near 70 degrees, then back into the 60s with a rather wet Wednesday and Thursday. Rainfall amounts from Monday to Thursday are likely to pass two inches in much of the region.

The forecast for Friday and into Memorial Day weekend is a bit on the hazy side, as in we can't clearly see what's going to happen weather wise.

But if we do get a good amount of rain Wednesday and Thursday, then the odds are favorable for at least partially sunny weather and mostly dry weather for the long weekend ahead.

Temperatures likely rebounding back into the 70s with a mostly dry Saturday, Sunday, and maybe Monday too.
