Mother Teresa Credited With Curing Girl's Kidney Cancer

A Rhode Island family is crediting Mother Teresa with helping cure their little girl's kidney cancer.

And the Roman Catholic bishop of Rhode Island agrees.

Michele Khoury tells The Providence Journal that things looked hopeless for her then 5-year-old daughter, Sydney, in 2008.

But then Bishop Thomas Tobin arrived at Hasbro Children's Hospital carrying a relic: A few strands of Mother Teresa's hair in a protective container known as a reliquary. As the bishop prayed, Sydney's body convulsed and her eyes opened for the first time in days. Within a couple of weeks, she was at home.

Sydney remains healthy to this day.

The bishop credits the medical staff at the hospital, but says "I believe something very, very special happened here through the intercession of Mother Teresa."
