The second vehicle a white four-door sedan with New York registration plates, fled the scene. The driver was identified as a female with medium build, glasses and a pony tail.
Kauffman was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries. It appeared he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Police said he was pronounced dead early Friday morning.
