Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Highway Guardrail

Maine State Police say a motorcyclist has died after driving fast through traffic on Interstate 295 near Falmouth, hitting the rear of a sport utility vehicle then running into a guardrail.

Police spokesman Stephen McCausland says 21-year-old Alexander Small of Richmond, Maine, was taken to a hospital, where he died shortly after the 12:10 p.m. crash Saturday.

McCausland says results of blood tests on Small are pending.

He says two adults and two children, all from Portland, were in the SUV at the time of the accident. None was injured.
