Multiple Manholes Explode in Downtown Brockton

The explosions happened in the area of 262 Main St.

Firefighters in Brockton, Massachusetts, responded to multiple manhole explosions downtown Monday morning.

The six explosions happened shortly after midnight on Main, Crescent and Maple streets.

A National Grid spokeswoman says they're trying to figure out what caused the problem and the focus is on one manhole.

No injuries were reported and electrical service was not impacted to customers in the area, according to the spokesperson.

There were carbon monoxide readings in the area.

National Grid is on the scene and a worker tells us they will be on scene for a while, though no specifics were given.

No business' power will be affected, though some street lights may be impacted as crews make repairs.

Back in July, as many as 20 explosions rocked Main Street. Manholes bursted into the air, leaving windows shattered and buildings evacuated.
