N.H. Man Rescued in Boating Accident Leaving Him Seriously Injured

A New Hampshire man sustained serious injuries after being hit by a boat in Lake Massabesic while he was kayaking just before 6 p.m. on Saturday.

According to New Hampshire State Police, kayaker, Craig Daniels, 57, of Derry, was fishing and adjusting one of his trolling lines in open water when he was struck broadside by a 16' Tracker power boat operated by, Timothy Clougherty, 47, of Candia.

The accident occurred southwest of Deer Neck Bridge and the 28 bypass.

Daniels was ejected into the water from the "sit-on" style kayak causing him to sustain serious internal injuries.

Cloughterty, along with nearby Good Samaritans, helped Daniels into their boat and transported him back to Deer Neck Bridge car-top launch where emergency personnel met them.

Although the crash is still under investigation, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
