NYC Man Convicted in Maine Murder Case

Anthony Pratt Jr., was accused of fatally shooting 29-year-old Margarita Fisenko Scott in the neck.

A New York City man accused of shooting his married girlfriend and leaving her body in a SUV in a motel parking lot where it was found in January 2013 has been convicted of murder in Maine.

Jurors returned the guilty verdict Thursday after hearing testimony over eight days in the trial of Anthony Pratt Jr., who was accused of fatally shooting 29-year-old Margarita Fisenko Scott in the neck.

A prosecutor said Pratt was angry that Scott was returning to her husband.

The defense contended DNA evidence pointed to someone other than the 21-year-old defendant. Pratt's DNA was found on chewing gum used to plug a bullet hole in an apartment but not on the murder weapon.

He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in November.
