National Mountain Biking Competition Comes to Killington

Hundreds of bikers will descend on Vermont for their shot at $40,000 and glory in competitive mountain biking.

The Fox U.S. Open of Mountain Biking is coming to Killington for the first time in August, and it will draw athletes from around the world to compete on what is billed as one of the most challenging downhill mountain biking courses in the nation. The Rutland Herald reports Killington invested $16 million in improvements to their trails and facilities for the 2018-19 season.

Killington communications specialist Kristel Fillmore says the resort is expecting between 3,000 and 5,000 people.

A three-hour welcome party will be held on Aug. 1 to welcome competitors and spectators.
