Prosecutors have filed murder charges in the April shooting of a 74-year-old woman, including against one of her grandchildren, after a gunbattle in Mattapan left her dead.
The men were previously arrested in connection to the shooting of Eleanor Maloney, but their charges were updated to include murder over the weekend. Two others have also been charged in connection with the killing, Suffolk County District Attorney Rachel Rollins said.
"This tragedy is particularly heinous for the Maloney family. They've lost their grandmother and one of their relatives has been charged with her murder," Rollins said Monday. "I can't imagine the pain and hurt that they are experiencing and I offer them my sincere condolences."
Anthony Davis, 37, and Dane Henry, 23, were involved in a gun fight with each other on Mattapan Street in which both were wounded, prosecutors said. Maloney wasn't the intended target, they said, but she was caught in the crossfire.
"Their callous disregard for community and anyone else but themselves resluted in a beautiful 74-year-old woman being robbed over her life," Rollins said.
Davis pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of murder, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and habitual offender. He is being held without bail, and waved to his family in court as he left.
Henry, of Roxbury, who was previously arrested in connection with the investigation on separate charges, was charged with murder, armed assault to murder and intimidation of a witness. Henry is currently in custody.

Chinonso Nwosu was charged with tampering with evidence and Khamal Watson with witness intimidation in the shooting — prosecutors say they were with Henry before the shooting.
It wasn't immediately clear if they had attorneys who could speak to the charges.
