New DA in Hernandez Trial to Be Sworn In

The new district attorney overseeing the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez is due to be sworn in

The new district attorney overseeing the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez is due to be sworn in.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is set to swear in Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III on Wednesday afternoon in Fall River.

Quinn was appointed to the post last month after his predecessor, Sam Sutter, was elected mayor of Fall River. He was first appointed as acting DA by outgoing Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick, then permanently appointed by Baker, a Republican.

Quinn had previously been a top official in the office and took over the job days before the murder trial began.

Also being sworn in Wednesday are Quinn's legal leadership team, including two of the lead prosecutors in the Hernandez case, William McCauley and Patrick Bomberg.
