Services will be offered free of charge to people living in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island

A new legal resource has been created for members of the transgender community in New England.

The Transgender ID Project is designed to provide legal guidance and representation to transgender people in completing legal name changes and updating identity documentation.

That includes Social Security cards, U.S. passports, driver's licenses or state identification cards, as well as birth certificates issued in New England.

The services are being provided free of charge by the law firm Ropes & Gray, along with GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders and the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition to people living in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
