The New Hampshire Senate is backing a bill that would make it a felony for someone to distribute sexually explicit images of another person without his or her consent.
Such conduct is known as "revenge porn" - when people share images that were meant to remain private. Cases of revenge porn are becoming more prevalent with cell phones, the Internet and other technologies.
The bill makes it a crime to share photos, videos or recordings of others that show people unclothed or engaging in sexual acts. The bill says a person must not disseminate the images with the intent to "harass, intimidate, threaten or coerce" the person in the images.
The bill now moves to the New Hampshire House.
