The location of the first of seven northern New England stores has been revealed

The location of the first of seven new Krispy Kreme stores slated to open in New Hampshire and Maine has been revealed.

According to the Portland Press Herald, one of the seven locations is set to open later this year in Auburn, Maine at the former Paris Farmers Union location on Center Street.

The northern New England Krispy Kreme push is being spearheaded by Cort Mendez, who operated 10 Five Guys burger joints in New Hampshire before selling them last year.

Locations for the remaining six northern New England Krispy Kreme stores are still being scouted out. No timeframe has been given for when those stores might open.

New Hampshire Business Review had previously reported that Mendez is looking at locations in Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, Newington, Salem and Seabrook in New Hampshire and Portland, Bangor, Lewiston-Auburn, Brunswick, Biddeford, Kittery and Augusta in Maine.

Krispy Kreme has more than 1,000 stores in 25 countries. The only existing store in New England right now is at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.
