WJAR reports ex-Rep. Raymond Gallison (right) sold a car from the estate of Raymond Medley to his son (left) for $500, a few thousand dollars less than its reported value.

New questions are being raised about how a former Rhode Island state lawmaker handled the estate of a dead friend when he was acting as the executor.

WJAR-TV reports that former Democratic Rep. Raymond Gallison sold a car from Raymond Medley's estate to his son for $500, a few thousand dollars less than the Kelley Blue Book value.

The son, a Bristol police officer, sold the car two years later for $2,500. The son did not answer questions about the car from WJAR, but sent a check to Medley's estate for $2,500.

An attorney handling the estate tells the station the estate was worth $1 million, not $237,000 as Gallison initially valued it. The money was supposed to go to several nonprofits, but they never received it.

    A federal investigation is ongoing.
