Person Struck, Killed by MBTA Commuter Rail Train

Officials are warning passengers about significant delays

A person was struck and killed by a MBTA commuter rail train Wednesday morning, and there are now significant delays on the line, according to officials.

Officials say a Newburyport commuter rail train struck a trespasser between the Hamilton/Wenham and Ipswich stations.

Buses replaced service for a few hours, but trains are now making all stops. Meanwhile, passengers north of North Beverly are being asked to go to Beverly Station for inbound train service.

Officials say the Newburyport 7:55 a.m. train is operating an hour late between Beverly and North Station and is making all stops.

Police are investigating the incident.

Riders were struck on the train and took to Twitter to share their frustrations.
