No Bail for Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing

A Providence man will remain jailed as he faces a murder charge in the stabbing death of another man last month in East Providence, Rhode Island

A Providence man will remain jailed as he faces a murder charge in the stabbing death of another man last month in East Providence, Rhode Island.

A judge on Friday ordered 29-year-old James Stevens held without bail on charges he stabbed 24-year-old Jasper Williams, who died at a hospital.

Authorities say Stevens stabbed Williams repeatedly in the torso, head and leg outside the home Williams shared with his girlfriend following an argument.

U.S. Marshals apprehended Stevens in El Paso, Texas, after 18 days on the run.

Stevens hasn't entered a plea. His attorney declined comment.

Williams' mother says Stevens is in a relationship with her son's ex-girlfriend.

Williams was found guilty in 2014 of stabbing two brothers. He was released about two weeks before he was slain.
