Officer-Involved Shooting in Stoughton, Massachusetts

A police officer shot a knife-wielding man on Thursday afternoon in Stoughton, Massachusetts.

Stoughton Police Chief Paul Shastany told the Enterprise of Brockton that the shooting was preceded by a foot chase shortly after noon near the intersection of Brook and Central streets.

The suspect was taken to a Boston hospital and is expected to survive.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office are investigating.

Earlier in the afternoon, Canton Police said they were also sending an officer to Stoughton.
