Officers Cleared in Stun Gun Death in Chelsea, Mass.

District Attorney Daniel Conley said in his final report that officers "acted reasonably and lawfully" when they used a stun gun on Dominic Graffeo

A Suffolk County District Attorney's Office report says Chelsea, Massachusetts, police acted within their rights when they used a stun gun on a man acting violently last year who then died at an area hospital.

The Boston Globe reports
District Attorney Daniel Conley said in his final report that officers "acted reasonably and lawfully" when they used a stun gun on Dominic Graffeo inside his apartment on June 26, 2014.

Officers were dispatched to Graffeo's rooming house on Hawthorne Street after the manager called to complain that the 56-year-old was smashing things and "going crazy."

Police say Officer David Delaney used the stun gun at Graffeo after he threw objects at officers that included bottles and a dresser drawer.

The medical examiner ruled that many factors contributed to Graffeo's death.
