Police: Officer Stabbed With Wooden Stake Shoots Suspect

Boston officials confirm a police officer was stabbed and a suspect was shot and injured in an incident in Dorchester late Thursday night.

Police responded to the scene at 2 Howe Terrence for multiple reports of an unruly person causing a disturbance.

One individual reported the suspect was armed with a large wooden stake. In one instance, the suspect allegedly attacked a victim with the stake, causing injury.

In another incident, the suspect allegedly punched a victim's motor vehicle and proceded to chase it down the street.

Police arrived on the scene and an altercation occured between an officer and a suspect in which the officer was stabbed in the lower abdomen. The officer then shot the suspect once in the leg. Police say the officer gave multiple verbal commands for the suspect to drop the stake.

The suspect was transported to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries and is in critical condition.

Police say the suspect is 22-year-old Edwin Guity, who lives in the area and is known to police. Police say there have been several calls against him over the past few years for assault and emotionally-disturbed behavior.

The condition of the officer is unknown. His name has not been released.
