Officials in Vermont have concluded their investigation into a toddler's death while at a day care center last year.
The Washington County State's Attorney's Office says they don't plan to file criminal charges in connection with the drowning and cold water submersion death of 3-year-old Parker Berry, who drowned while at Elephant in the Field day care in Waterbury on Feb. 11, 2015.
State's attorney Scott Williams adds that there have been steps to prevent future risk.
"I am aware that Department of Children and Families has carried out its duties relative to child safety and made regulatory and licensing findings and taken action based on those findings," he said in a statement.
However, he would not elaborate on any civil process in connection with the case.
Authorities previously said that day care officials noticed Berry was missing when his family members arrived to pick him up. Staff then spotted the boy in Thatcher Brook and pulled him from it, calling 911. He died at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
