Officials: Fire That Displaced 45 Was Arson

The fire broke out Nov. 7 in a 12-unit apartment building at Valgar Street

Authorities say a Brattleboro, Vermont, fire that forced more than 40 people from their homes earlier this month was an act of arson.

The fire broke out Nov. 7 in a 12-unit apartment building at Valgar Street. There were no injuries, but the American Red Cross regional office reported that 45 people were displaced.

Authorities say there were multiple spots where the fire started, indicating that it was intentionally set. Investigators say they have multiple persons of interest, but no names have been released.

Brattleboro Fire Capt. Lennie Howard says six units have been reoccupied since the fire.
