Maine state fire officials have ruled that a blaze that broke out at an assisted living center in Waterville over the weekend was intentionally set.
The Morning Sentinel reports Sgt. Ken Grimes said Monday that a suspect has been identified, but he wouldn't release information regarding how Sunday's fire was set.
Firefighters responded to the Pleasant Street facility operated by Motivational Services Inc. around 8 a.m. to find the flames contained to a single room. The Augusta-based organization provides services and programs for the mentally ill.
Grimes says the home's sprinkler system "did its job" and extinguished the fire before crews arrived on-scene.
Officials say the fire was the third case of arson to occur in Waterville in a week. Grimes says there's no indication that the incidents are related.
