    Officials: Man Hurt Trying to Save Dog From Fire

    Officials say a man was injured while trying to rescue his dog from a burning home in southwestern Maine.

    The Portland Press Herald reports
    firefighters arrived at the burning Newfield home on Maplewood Road Wednesday afternoon.

    Authorities say all four residents who were in the home when the blaze broke out were initially evacuated safely. One resident then went back into the home to rescue his dog and was subsequently injured.

    The extent of the man's injuries is not known. The condition of the dog is also unknown.

    Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and the circumstances regarding the man's injuries.
