PD: Hunter's Bullet Strikes Home, Barely Misses Woman

Police issued a citation to 33-year-old Shawn Young, of St. Johnsbury, on suspicion of reckless endangerment

Vermont State Police say charges are expected against a man after he accidentally discharged his firearm when preparing for hunting, sending a bullet into a neighbor's home.

Police issued a citation to 33-year-old Shawn Young, of St. Johnsbury, on suspicion of reckless endangerment. He has been ordered to appear in court in February.

Police received a call from a 68-year-old woman around 11:45 a.m. Sunday reporting that someone had shot into her home.

Police say an investigation showed Young had accidentally shot his firearm. The bullet entered the woman's home and continued to go through several rooms, narrowly missing her before coming to rest.

It wasn't immediately known if Young had a lawyer and a number couldn't be found for him.
