PD: Man Shoots at Car, Kills Self in Standoff

Police identified the man as 35-year-old Jeremiah Gillen and negotiated with him for several hours

New Hampshire State Police say a man who shot at a car carrying a woman and two children as it left a home barricaded himself for several hours before fatally shooting himself.

Police in Lancaster received a report of shots fired at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. They learned that a domestic disturbance happened at 32 Prospect Street. As the car with the woman and children was leaving the driveway, police said the man shot at the vehicle, striking the hood. Police evacuated nearby residents.

Police identified the man as 35-year-old Jeremiah Gillen and negotiated with him for several hours. Eventually, Gillen no longer answered the phone.

Police used a robot to enter the home. They said he was found dead due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Residents were allowed to return.
