Bostonians of all sexual preferences packed a downtown square for the city's 47th annual Pride Day Parade on Saturday.
Boston's popular Faneuil Hall Marketplace hosted the event for the 17th time. The parade began at noon.
A number of floats were represented in the parade, including one with 49 flags to honor the victims of the Pulse Night Club shooting.
Organizers said a full day of family fun and entertainment was planned in addition to the parade, including a concert, youth dance and pride festival.
This year's theme was "Stronger Together."
For many in the LGBT community, the day is something that is looked forward to all year long.
"This is really the only time of year where everyone is able to fully express themselves be themselves, be happy, have a good time, and for a lot of us, this is the only time of year where we see each other," said Karen Russell, of Boston.

Most events were free and open to the public, though there was a fee charged for parties and the youth dance.
