Pedestrian Airlifted After Hit-and-Run

Police said the driver left the scene and the pedestrian was airlifted to Hartford Hospital for treatment of serious injuries

Canton, Connecticut, police and a LifeStar medical helicopter responded to a serious crash near the front entrance of the high school in the Collinsville section of town.

The accident happened Tuesday night outside the school at 76 Simonds Avenue. Police said the driver left the scene and the pedestrian was airlifted to Hartford Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

As of 11:00 Tuesday night, the area of the school was closed to traffic and will remain shut down indefinitely, according to police.

No additional information was immediately available.
