A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Saturday morning in Braintree, Vermont.
Police believe the victim was walking alone on the tracks with his back to the train at the time of the crash.
State police responded around 10:45 a.m. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Personnel on the Amtrak passenger train tried to stop in time, but were unable to, according to police.
No one else was injured.
The victim's name will not be released until his family has been notified.
