Pedestrian Struck, Killed on I-95 in Massachusetts

A pedestrian was struck and killed on I-95 Thursday night in Massachusetts, state police confirm.

The crash happened on the southbound highway in Waltham near the Weston line around 10:30 p.m.

The person was struck in one of the middle lanes by a 2010 Nissan Altima driven by a 61-year-old man and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.

State police say they're actively investigating why the pedestrian, who has not been named, was on the highway and where the victim got access to the road. There is no indication the pedestrian abandoned a vehicle nearby.

No other details were immediately released.
