A woman was struck and killed by a tractor trailer truck Wednesday afternoon in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Police responded to the crash at the intersection of Bridge and French street at 4:49 p.m. where the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Friday, the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office identified the victim as 67-year-old Carlene Foster of Lowell. Witnesses told NBC Boston Wednesday that she was well-known in the neighborhood.
Juan Carlos de la Cruz, a local business owner, rushed outside to try and help.
"It sounded like a boom. You don't want to see that. It's bad," said de la Cruz.
Investigators said the truck driver remained at the scene after the crash.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
