    A box truck hit a pedestrian Friday in Haverhill, Massachusetts, sending the victim to the hospital. (Published Friday, Nov. 4, 2016)

    A pedestrian was hit by a box truck Friday afternoon in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

    Police confirm the crash happened in the 300 block of River Street.

    Witnesses in the area say the victim had headphones on as he was crossing the street. A white box truck clipped him with the driver's side mirror while coming around a bend, launching the man 10 to 15 feet.

    When neighbors heard the crash, they rushed out to the scene. According to witnesses, the driver stopped to help.

    The victim's niece told necn he's 30 years old and was walking home at the time. The family is grateful so many people rushed to his aid.

    The man was taken to an area hospital, but there was no immediate word on his condition.
