Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Accident

Two commercial vehicles were potentially involved

Police in Bow, New Hampshire, on Monday responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

A preliminary investigation indicates 45-year-old Brian Szarka, with no permanent address, was walking in the southbound lane of Route 3A, when a snowplow driver swerved to avoid Szarka.

The investigation has not revealed if Szarka was struck by the plow.

There was a light-colored minivan following the snowplow that left the scene. It is unknown if the minivan was involved in the accident.

Despite the action of the driver of a tractor-trailer following the minivan, Szarka was struck in the foot by one wheel of the tractor-trailer.

Szarka remains in critical condition.

It does not appear any charges will be brought against either of the commercial vehicle operators.
