Boston Police responded after a person was shot in the city's South End.

The shooting was reported just after 1:30 p.m. Police responded to the intersection of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Massachusetts Avenue.

The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Boston University Police sent out a campus alert saying there was a "shooting incident" and that students and faculty should avoid the area until further notice. The school's medical campus is located in the same general area.

"Suspect has fled the scene in the direction away from campus," the alert said.

The school's emergency response plan has been activated, but police said no further action is required at this time.
