Teen Dies From Injuries in Stabbing; Suspect Arrested

A teenager who was stabbed Thursday afternoon at the Jackson Square MBTA station has died from his injuries and a suspect has been taken into custody, authorities confirmed.

The victim, 17-year-old Mason Raymond of the city's Hyde Park neighborhood, was attacked at the stop in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood, according to officials. He died from his injuries around 4:30 Friday morning.

Police arrested 16-year-old Ronaldo Cepeda was arrested Friday morning at his home and arraigned in Roxbury Municipal Court on a murder charge. He is being tried as an adult.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says the two teens knew each other. A fight allegedly broke out after they exchanged words. Cepeda is accused of pulling a knife and stabbing Raymond in the heart.

Raymond was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he died around 4:30 a.m. Friday.

The station was briefly closed after the attack, with the Orange Line bypassing the stop in both directions. Shuttle service accommodated travelers between the Stony Brook and Roxbury Crossing stops. Shortly after 5 p.m., the MBTA announced the station had reopened.
