Ringo Tarr of Gloucester, Massachusetts, says his pet miniature horses have been robbed of their tails.
This is the second time someone has cut off the horses’ tails he says. “About a year ago, it was about the end of September, I was putting the horses in one day and I happened to notice their tails were all cut. All of a sudden this year the same thing happened," said Tarr.
Tarr filed police reports both time. He first thought it was a prank but now thinks someone could be profiting. “There’s a big market for jewelry, horse hair jewelry,” says Tarr.
The horse’s mane and tails help defend them from flies and mosquitos. The Tarrs have considered putting hair extensions on them as there are a lot of greenhead flies around.
