Pet Python Bites His Owner

Pesto the pet python turned on his long-time owner.

“It happened so quick,” said Ben Colaruuso, Pesto’s owner. Colarusso has kept the python in his Lynn home for two decades and says this is the first time Pesto ever bit. “It hurt,” said Colarusso. "I pulled it off before it could really sink the fangs into my hand…I was lucky…usually they don’t let go."

The snake is about 6 feet long and is 22 years old. Ben called 911 because he sustained scratches on his hand. But when Animal Control showed up, he found out he’d have to get rid of Pesto. It’s against city ordinance to own an exotic reptile.

“Great pet, but once it bites you, you just lose all interest for it,” said Colarusso. “I’m going to miss him."

Ben has already found a new home for Pesto in another town and will give the python away tomorrow.
