A small plane crashed after landing at the Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis, Massachusetts, on Sunday afternoon, the town's fire department confirmed.
The Hyannis Fire Department responded to the scene at 480 Barnstable Road at about 1:15 p.m.
Authorities said the woman piloting the Cirrus SR 22 single-engine plane was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control while landing and veered off the runway. She crashed through a fence, striking at least four parked rental vehicles.
"We heard a noise from the back it was just like some cracking noise in the back and then all of a sudden the plane was just right next to our car," said witness Andrew Suriyakan. "It was very fast so we just ran out of the car."
The pilot and three passengers were transported to Cape Cod Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The vehicles that were struck only had minor damages.
Airport officials say the investigation will be handed over to the Federal Aviation Administration.

"It looks like the aircraft, one of the wheels dipped into the grass and lost some directional control — the aircraft went off the taxi way, into the grass and into our rental car parking lot," said Katie Servis, Assistant Manager of the Barnstable Municipal Airport.
