A Vermont woman faces manslaughter charges after an investigation into the Aug. 16 vehicle crash that led to the death of a 3-year-old child.
Christina Deslandes, 25, was traveling northbound in Brighton where she crossed the southbound lane and collided with a telephone pole.
According to Vermont authorities, the child was in the front passenger seat and was not wearing a seat belt. Additionally, officials said the child was not sitting in a booster or child seat.
Both Deslandes and the child were transported to North Country Hospital, where the child died in the emergency room from crash injuries.
Deslandes faces two involuntary manslaughter charges, a negligence charge and cruelty to a child.
She is expected to appear in Essex County Court Nov. 17.
