69-Year-Old Woman Dies From Injuries in Hit-and-Run

An elderly woman died at the hospital from injuries after being hit by a vehicle that left the scene Thursday morning in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Sixty-nine-year-old Marjorie Cochrane was walking her son's dog near Lunn's Way and Garrett Place when she and the pet were hit around 7:54 a.m.

The driver never stopped.

Cochrane, who was suffered serious head injuries at the scene, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess in Plymouth, but then flown by helicopter to Boston Medical Center, where she died, according to police. The dog was also killed.

The victim's children are stunned by the sudden loss.

"My mother was the center of all of our family, in every way," said Cochrane's daughter, Lleann Mainville. "Very strong, sweet woman."

People who live in the quiet neighborhood say drivers often speed and use it as a cut-through.

Cochrane's family is urging the driver to come forward.

"They just left her to die," said Mainville. "It's just been very difficult, and it would be nice if we had some answers of what happened to my mother."

The crash is being investigated by Plymouth police along with Massachusetts State Police detectives and its accident reconstruction team.

The make and model of the vehicle involved are not known at this time; however, the vehicle is believed to have front end and windshield damage. Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding the vehicle and the driver. Anyone who may have information is asked to call 508-746-1212.
