Police Arrest 2 Men in ATM Skimming Case

Police in Rhode Island say they have arrested two men suspected of skimming more than $65,000 from a credit union's ATM.

Warwick police say someone had attached a skimming device to an ATM at Greenwood Credit Union. The devices record information from the magnetic strip of a credit or debit card, which is then copied onto counterfeit cards.

Police say more than 125 credit unions customers were victimized last month. They reviewed video evidence and financial records to determine a suspect.

Police say 30-year-old Moises Morales Cano of New York City returned to Rhode Island and was arrested Saturday at a hotel. He is being held pending arraignment on felony charges of accessing a computer for fraudulent purposes.

A suspected accomplice, 52-year-old Carlos Cineros of New York City, also was arrested. Home phone numbers could not be located for either suspect.

Police believe the pair may have skimmed more ATMs along the East Coast.
