Police said they arrested the suspect accused of stealing firearms and other items from unlocked cars in Haddam last month.

Alex Cruz, 19, of Hartford was charged with two counts of firearm theft, credit card theft, fifth-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny.

On July 3, police responded to two incidents that happened on Turkey Hill Road in the middle of the night. Two firearms and a credit card were among the several items stolen, Connecticut State Police said.

An investigation led to the arrest of Cruz, who is currently incarcerated in Hartford for a different arrest, police said.

Cruz is expected to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Aug. 4. His bond was set at $10,000.
