Police Arrest Suspect in Hamden, Connecticut, Murder

33-year-old William Coutermash faces multiple charges, including felony murder

Police have charged a 33-year-old East Haven, Connecticut, man with killing a 56-year-old man in his Hamden home last Sunday.

Police arrested William Coutermash, 33, on Thursday on multiple charges including felony murder in the case of the shooting that killed Larry Dildy, 56 on Oct. 19 in his Circular Avenue apartment.

Dildy had answered a knock at the door at about 12:30 p.m. that day and a man entered his second-floor apartment. The suspect shot and possibly stabbed him during a fight that ensued, according to police. Dildy was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died of his injuries about three hours later.

Police charged Coutermash with felony murder, conspiracy to commit home invasion, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, removing identification marks on a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The murder case remains under investigation.

Police have scheduled a press conference for this afternoon to discuss major developments in the case.

State of Connecticut Division of Scientific Services, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the New Haven State's Attorney's office assisted with the investigation.
