Police in South Portland, Maine, arrested three people for robbery and aggravated assault, as well as drug trafficking.
According to the police, officers responded to the Days Inn located on the Main Mall Road for a report of man bleeding from the head on Tuesday morning.
Once on scene, officers found Abdallah Dud, age 29, of Saco, Maine, who told officers he had been assaulted by two males while in his motel room.
Dud had a severe laceration to his scalp area and was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A female was also reportedly involved.
Around 11:50 p.m. that night an officer conducted a traffic stop on the I-295 on ramp near outer Broadway and determined the vehicle's occupants, a male and female, were at least two of the suspects involved in the earlier assault.
After discovering evidence at the scene of the stop, officers arrested Kokou Noulilo, age 24 of Lewiston, Maine, and Breanna Lee, age 25, also of Lewiston.
Noulilo and Lee were charged with Robbery (a Class A crime) and Aggravated Assault (a Class B crime).
Officers recovered a substantial amount of money inside the vehicle.
Investigators later learned the money found in the vehicle was taken from the motel room during the assault.
A search warrant was served to search the arrested suspects motel room and officers found 8 grams of suspected cocaine base under one of the beds.
The attack was allegedly a drug rip off.
No innocent guests were harmed.
Noulilo and Lee were out on bail when they were stopped and were charged with Violating Conditions of Release (a Class C crime) as well.
Both are being held without bail pending their arraignment which should occur on Friday.
The victim, Abdallah Dud, was released from the hospital and charged with Trafficking in Scheduled W Drugs (a Class B crime) and Violating Conditions of Release (a Class E crime).
He is also being held without bail.
