Police say a beverage vendor ran from the back of a grocery store and confronted a man trying to rob the clerk in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Police said Ryan Geara, the vendor, ran from the back of the store Tuesday morning when he heard the clerk scream for help after the man demanded cash from her at the Crosstown Variety store.

Police said Geara used physical force to prevent the man, identified as 22-year-old Nathan Hinse of Weare, from fleeing until police arrived.

Hinse, who was not armed, was charged with robbery and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
