Police: Convict Escapes Rhode Island Prison

Twenty-five-year-old Keurys Pena of Providence also goes by the name of Michael Santanna

A 25-year-old prisoner escaped from a Cranston, Rhode Island, prison complex Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Rhode Island State Police say Keurys Pena, of Providence, was reported missing 12:50 p.m. on Power Road, which is on the grounds of the Howard Prison complex.

Authorities say Pena also goes by the name Michael Santanna.

The inmate was working a minimum security work detail when he escaped, according to Rhode Island State Maj. Todd Catlow.

Pena is serving a four-and-a-half year sentence after pleading no contest in 2013 on charges of breaking and entering.
