Police: Driver Dies in Crash After Hitting Deer

The identity of the GMC SUV driver killed in the crash has not been released

An SUV driver was killed in an early morning crash involving a deer in Rhode Island, according to state police.

Troopers responded to Route 295 southbound in Johnston around 5 a.m. Friday, where they found a GMC SUV rolled over on its passenger side just south of Greenville Avenue after hitting a deer.

The driver of the SUV, who wasn't identified, was ejected because he or she wasn't wearing a seat belt, and died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
