Police said it happened just before 4 p.m. on Tremont Street.
The crash involved only one vehicle, which only had the 36-year-old driver inside.
State police said the driver, a Plymouth resident, was trapped inside and had to extricated. He was transported to Tobey Hospital and then taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.
