Police: Drunken Driver Clocked Doing 111 MPH

Shaun Chase is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated

A New Hampshire is facing a drunken driving charge after police clocked him going 111 mph on Interstate 93 on Monday night.

New Hampshire State Police said a 2014 Hyundai Accent passed a trooper's cruiser on I-93 north at a speed of 80 mph around 10 p.m. After passing the trooper, the vehicle accelerated to 85 mph, 95 mph and then 111mph.

Police pulled the vehicle over, and said the driver, Shaun Chase, 42, of Pembroke, was found to be highly impaired, aggressive and uncooperative. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and refused to take a Breathalyzer test. He also had an active warrant for a federal probation violation.

Chase was released on personal recognizance for the drunken driving charge and is scheduled to be arraigned in Concord District Court on June 5. He was held at the Merrimack County Jail until he could be remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals.
