A Fall River, Massachusetts, man charged with threatening to kill the city's ex-mayor has been held on $2,500 bail.
Andrew Rak, who expressed frustration that former Mayor Will Flanagan had lost a recent recall election before he was arrested Saturday, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday to charges including assault with a dangerous weapon and larceny.
Authorities say the 28-year-old Rak broke into Flanagan's SUV and stole several items including a wallet and a pair of oversized ceremonial scissors.
When Flanagan, who last month lost a recall election, confronted him, Rak allegedly said: "I'm going to kill you. You lost the election."
The Herald News reports that Flanagan told police he was threatened with a baseball bat.
Rak's lawyer said in court the entire episode was "alcohol related."
