Police Find Semi-Automatic Rifle, Marijuana in Home

The suspect is being held in police custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for July 14

A Providence man is facing charges after police say they seized a semi-automatic rifle, ammunition and marijuana from his home.

Police say they executed a search warrant at the home of Justin Ayala on Thursday after an extensive investigation into illegal drug activity there. Police seized a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, a magazine loaded with .22 caliber rounds, about 400 grams of a substance believe to be marijuana and a digital scale.

The 20-year-old Ayala was arrested and charged with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of a firearm while in possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

Ayala is being held in police custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for July 14.

It's unclear whether he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
